Can a New Boiler Help Reduce Your Carbon Footprint?

These days, it’s hard to pick up a paper or turn on the news without hearing about another devastating consequence of the world’s energy crisis. Across the Earth, ripples are felt as a result of the harmful CO2 emissions released, which are largely caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

While industries undoubtedly need to change their ways and revolutionise their efforts and responsibilities, as individuals we can also help. While it may be difficult to know where to start, the best place to examine our own carbon footprint is actually in our own home.

Reducing energy use at home helps the planet

In recent years, boiler technology has advanced hugely. This has resulted in improved performance and much better levels of efficiency. So while you may enjoy the same amount of heat and hot water, your boiler will use a lot less energy to produce it. And the less energy it uses, the fewer CO2 emissions it creates.

As the item in your home you probably use most days, having a new A-rated boiler installed in your home to replace your old, less efficient model, is one of the best ways you can help fight the energy crisis.

In addition, there are also smaller ways you can help, by trying some or all of the following:

Setting your thermostat to a slightly lower temperature. You’ll quickly get used to a little less heat, and can make a big difference over a whole year.

Having a Smart meter installed. This is usually done for free by your energy supplier and helps you better track your usage so you can make reductions easily.

Using eco settings on your dishwasher and washing machines. Shorter cycles and lower temperatures really can make a difference if you use them as default.
