Here at Tim Reynolds, plumbing Heating and Gas, we are regularly servicing Boilers in and around Ringwood. There are many reasons to keep your boiler regularly serviced, which can help save you money in the long run and also keep you warm in those cold winter nights, a Win Win really!
We sometimes here the Phrase, If it isn't broken, don't fix it'. Unfortunately, especially with boilers, this isn't always, in fact, it very rarely is, the case. We often come across faults inside boilers that the customer is completely un aware of, which often is actually costing them money or affecting the safety of their family in their home. these faults could be concealed and seemingly, non-existent. Until our trained professional engineers get the covers off of your boiler for a look.
So what does a Boiler Service entail?
When we show up for a routine standard boiler service we would be checking all or some of the following items, depending ion your system type of course;
- Visual check of the boiler and installation
- Check the controls for the system operate correctly
- Check and clean the condensate trap
- check and clean the system filter
- check inhibitor levels and system water quality
- check and re charge the expansion vessel as necessary
- check the seals of not only the boiler casings but also the combustion seals
- clean the heat exchanger
- carry out full combustion analysis at bopth minimum and maximum rate
- check gas pressures
- check the flue for and issues, including flue integrity, flue flow, flue termination point, any visual damage or issues with the flue
- ensure the controls and boiler are set up correctly and operating efficiently
- check for water leaks
These are a few of the things that can be checked and all can lead to other issues down the line of not maintained.

What are we doing in this picture?
Here we can see out apprentice Joseph repairing a leaking pipe, that the customer hadn't realised was slowly leaking. The pipe actually carries condensate water from the boiler to the drain. Condensate water from a boiler is highly acidic, so mustn't come into contact with metal as it will corrode the metal, especially copper pipe. We made a quick effective repair quickly to ensure no further damage was done and assessed the copper pipes around it- luckily we'd caught the leak before any lasting damage had occurred - or a more costly repair, was needed.
